With Christmas fast approaching the President, Vice-Presidents and Trustees of the Bradfield Festival of Music Association thank you for your ongoing support and would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We thought you may be interested to hear about our plans for next year’s Festival so here is a preview of the performers we have lined up.

Saturday 23^rd June 2012

The first night of the Festival has usually featured local music groups and we welcome the return of Sheffield City Opera. “A Night at the Opera” will include excerpts from opera and operetta presented by the soloists and chorus of this excellent Sheffield based opera company.

Sunday 24^th June 2012

Monday 25^th June 2012

Tom Davey, cor anglais player with the Hallé Orchestra, returns to direct the ever-popular Meirion Ensemble.

Tuesday 26^th June 2012

The musicianship and elegance of the four award-winning harpists from 4 Girls 4 Harps has captivated audiences around the world. We look forward to the inaugural visit of these talented young ladies who are joined by Sheffield’s Ella Taylor, the 2010 BBC Chorister of the Year.

Wednesday 27^th June 2012

From the Royal Albert Hall to Bradfield, our guest recitalist for this evening has arrived! He was the youngest ever finalist in the BBC’s Young Musician of the Year competition; he was the youngest ever recitalist to appear at the First Night of the Proms, and our youngest professional recitalist to appear at Bradfield. We welcome Benjamin Grosvenor as our headline artist in 2012.

Thursday 28^th June 2012

John Lenehan returns to Bradfield, not as a soloist but as a member of the London Soloists Ensemble. John is joined by Lorraine McAslan (violin), Karine Georgian (cello) and Anthony Pike (clarinet) and in the concert they will feature two works by John Ireland, who died in 1962 and whose highly individual, consummately crafted and attractive music is at last receiving the attention it deserves.

Saturday 30^th June 2012

The Festival would not be complete without Bob Traynor and friends in the Gilbert & Sullivan evening. As 2012 is the Queen’s Diamond Jubiliee, and the year in which the UK hosts the Olympic Games, Bob will be conjuring up a patriotic theme for next year’s performance.
